🥽 Overview

VostroNet uses DHCP to automatically assign an IP address to your device. The following instructions show you how to reset your device to the automatic setting.

These instructions may assist if you have come from another location where you manually set a static IP address on your device, or software on your device modified the configuration. Where you are unsure, let us know and we can guide you though the process

How to set your computer to obtain an IP address automatically


  1. Right click the Start button and select Run

2. Type ncpa.cpl and click OK

3. Right click your network connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet) and select Properties

4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties

5. In the General tab
Select Obtain an IP address automatically
Select Obtain DNS server address automatically
are click OK.

6. Select Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) and click Properties.
Select Obtain an IPv6 address automatically
Select Obtain DNS server address automatically
and click OK.

7. Click OK to confirm the changes and close the network settings.

Mac OS X

  1. Click the Apple icon at the corner of your screen and select System Preferences

   2. Select Network

   3. On the left, select Wi-Fi. Then, click the Advanced button.`

   4. Set Configure IPv4 to Using DHCP and set Configure IPv6 to Automatically

Apple iOS (iPhone / iPad)

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad

   2. Select Wi-Fi to see the list of networks

   3. Tap on the blue (i) symbol next to VostroNet or VostroNet Connect

   4. Under IP Address select DHCP and Configure DNS to Automatic


  1. Open the Settings app on your device and go to the Wi-Fi settings

   2. Highlight VostroNet or VostroNet Connect (whichever you are connected to) and select Modify Network Config

   3. Select Show Advanced Options

   4. For IP Settings, set Proxy to None and IP Settings to DHCP
